In
restaurants, when someone orders wine, the varieties or year is always
mentioned, and the bottle is brought out. Yet, when someone orders dessert,
it’s the “house” dessert. That is the way things are.
This being
the case, we assume, and take great pleasure from doing so, that at the
Nobel Prize awards ceremony the dessert was called Poire Belle Hélène 2008,
or what amounts to the same thing (I think): Jalancina Half Pears in Syrup
with Chocolate
Nobel
Banquet Menu 2008
La sole aux fruits de
mer suédois, fenouil a l'aneth
Le filet de veau
accompagné des légumes de saison
Et d'une terrine de
pommes de terre
Poire Belle Hélène
2008
VINS
Jacquart Brut
Mosaïque Millésimé 2002
Champagne Moulinet
2000
Pomerol
Beerenauslese
Chardonnay, Helmut Lang 2006
Neusiedlersee
We
understand that the dessert gained a high score. This is something that can
happen, or not, that’s life – it’s doesn’t always have to be bad: Pears with
chocolate.
