Antonio García Cerdán,
grandfather of the undersigned, sent peaches from his region to UNIÓN
CONSERVERA y ARROCERA (U.C.A.S.A.), which had several factories in
Valencia. At a later date the possibility of making a few kilos himself
arose and in 1922 the factory in Jalance was established.
Thus began a rather
unusual company that has never really been well defined, since U.C.A.S.A.
was only the proprietor of the industrial rights and a couple of old
cans sealers.
In 1965 Carlos García
Rubio bought the industrial rights from U.C.A.S.A. and began to work for
himself and thus La Jalancina was born. He normalised a
commercial situation and continued to make peaches in syrup and also
started producing pears and mushrooms.
Carlos García García,
grandson and son of the aforementioned, seriously considered continuing
with the activity. New commercial trends in the form of supermarkets and
hypermarkets became evident.
The forecasts became true
and our structurally antiquated sector, which was far too atomised, fell
into freefall. 80% of the traditional canning factories in Valencia and
Castellón closed down. La Jalancina entered a time of constant
crisis meeting deadlines and striving for new methods.
As a result of this, in
1990 Jalancina – Artesanía en Conserva appeared with a product
range in glass jars. We placed our bets on the emerging gourmet sector,
up- and middle-market specialised catering establishments and El
Corte Inglés, as is only logical, through specialist distributors.
We continued searching for
new markets, new products and improved presentation. At the moment we
are developing new marmalades and syrups, with and without added sugar.
We are ARTISANS who make
preserves, who mechanise what is possible while respecting one
hundred percent the manual side of craft, which is what makes us
stand out from the rest along with our selection of raw materials.
A family of self-employed
workers who, now in its third generation, has decided to engage in the
work which, since its foundation in 1922, it has always known how to do
well. Our greatest asset is the warm professional and human quality of
the social sector, i.e.: the large Jalancina family.
